Yes. Peer-to-peer sharing, also known as p2p for short and torrenting is supported. (PS - downloading file through torrent may not be legal in some countries.)

The following are recommended servers to connect for p2p file sharing:

  • Canada-Ontario
  • Romania
  • Luxembourg
  • France (Paris)

Port forwarding is not supported by the app to ensure higher security. This does not affect p2p file sharing as it uses different mechanisms to establish connections with available peers at a time.

Someone may also be curious:

  • What port forwarding is?

In most simple terms, a port is a number that 'exposes' your device (phone or computer or tablet) to the world through the Internet. In other words, if port forwarding is set on your router, it is possible to access a device from anywhere on the Internet (as long as the device is connected to the router). This is often a desired feature but also gives opportunities to vulnerabilities. Usage of a VPN is not to expose your device (and your) identity!

VPN Clean blocks the most uncommon ports to provide the highest security and so when a request to access a device is received from the Internet, the router will not be able to 'talk' to the device if port forwarding is 'blocked'.

  • Why should I care about the port forwarding?

Well, in most scenarios, you don't need to. But if you intend to access your device through the Internet and the device is under VPN, this can be a situation that will not work. A typical example is, your router is configured with the port forwarding to your phone. Your phone is connected to the router and also has VPN enabled. In such cases let say from your office, you will not be able to access your phone at home.
